MICROSOFT Dev Camp
Turin, Italy (March 15th, 2013)
On March 15th, there was a Microsoft Dev Camp event hosted by MIC (Microsoft Innovation Center) Torino, like the ones organized in other Italian cities.

Saturday, January 26, was held in Naples the first Microsoft Embedded Conference. The event was organized by the cultural association DotNetCampania and by TinyCLR.it developer community. Although it was Saturday, the number of visitors was more than 50 people came not only from Campania, but also from other regions.

The organization was perfect both from the environmental point of view: space, time and facilities, both from the technical: tools for audio / video recording, support the speaker, etc. ...

9:40 – 10:20 Intelligent Systems: Beppe Platania
10:20 – 11:00 Windows Embedded Compact 7: Beppe Platania
10:30 – 12:10 Windows Embedded Standard 2009 and 7: Beppe Platania

In the keynote Michele Aponte (President DotNetCampania and MVP-Microsoft) presented the community, and Paolo Patierno (main organizer and member of the community TinyCLR.it) presented the agenda of the day.
In the keynote Michele Aponte (MVP- Microsoft and DotNetCampania President) presented the community, and Paolo Patierno (main organizer and member of the community TinyCLR.it) presented the agenda of the day.

In the Intelligent Systems session I presented the full range of Microsoft Windows Embedded offer starting from Windows Embedded Compact 7 up to Windows Embedded Server with a hint of. NET MicroFramework.
Then, in the second session, I presented a discussion of Windows Embedded Compact 7 from the history of Microsoft product, the internal structure adding to it all with a demonstration of the tool to build and deploy the system.
In the third session I presented platforms Windows Embedded Standard 2009 and 7 dwelling on the characteristics of the two embedded solutions and the development tools concluding with a practical demonstration of image building.
In the following session Valter Minute gave an overview on the concept of embedded system, by touching with hand some products "made in Italy"
After lunch, Paolo Patierno made a general overview on .Net Micro Framework, which paved the way for theoretical future sessions on the same topic.
The Mirco Vanini session on .NET Gadgeteer has generated considerable interest in the attendees, thanks to the strong theoretical as well as practical contents. At the end of the sessions, the founder of the TinyCLR.it community: Lorenzo Maiorfi and Gianluca Ruta, spoke of the "Internet of Things" by involving the people in the room in the drive, with their smart-phones, lights going on and buzzer who played under the control (via web) of a actuators and sensors rich platform set up for the demo.

Finally Clemente Giorio and Paolo Patierno presented, first in theory and then in practice, a solution based on Kinect, for final demo, with a robot as protagonist, set in motion thanks to the gesture and voice commands.
It 'been a busy day, but managed to get the active involvement and interest of the participants. We received the best reward at the end of the day, by the many compliments obtained by participants: the true heart of a community!
Thanks again to the commitment of the organizers: DotNetCampania and TinyCLR.it that allowed the success of this event that I hope to repeat soon or be able to organize a similar one in Turin with the TTG community to which I belong.
